The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, received in audience the leadership team of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), led by the Director-General, Rinsola Abiola. The courtesy visit, which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, was centered on strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and the Centre in promoting civic education, leadership development, and national consciousness among Nigerian youth.
In his remarks, the Honourable Minister welcomed the DG and his team, acknowledging the longstanding contributions of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre to youth development in Nigeria. He emphasized the critical role the Centre plays in nurturing responsible citizenship, character building, and leadership values, particularly in a time when the nation is focused on rebuilding trust, unity, and purpose among its young population.
Ms. Abiola, in her address, commended the Honourable Minister’s commitment to grassroots youth engagement and expressed the Centre’s readiness to work more closely with the Ministry in aligning national youth programs with the principles of citizenship, discipline, and service. She highlighted ongoing efforts by the CLTC to modernize its training curriculum and facilities, with a vision to make its programs more accessible and relevant to today’s youth.
Both parties explored opportunities for joint initiatives, including leadership camps, youth bootcamps, civic education drives, and integration of character development modules into existing Ministry programs. The meeting also addressed the need for increased federal and state-level support to expand the reach and capacity of the Centre’s training facilities across the country.
The Honourable Minister assured the delegation of the Ministry’s willingness to partner more strategically with the CLTC, noting that national transformation cannot be achieved without instilling the values of patriotism, discipline, and leadership in the next generation.
